    Banson Electric This case study highlights the ability of Elonex to work with a British Medium Size Business to implement a completely new state of the art IT Infrastructure and thereafter provide on-going support and further facilities.

    The Challenge
    Banson Electric is an Electrical Equipment Distribution business with offices in Manchester, Burnley, Liverpool, and Blackpool. Over the years a mixed IT Infrastructure based on Unix, NT4, and a variety of 95/98/ME Workstations had developed. Response times on certain applications had grown to totally unacceptable levels due to the size of files required for a growing business, and the communications lines in place. The cost of communications was also therefore unacceptably high.

    A complete upgrade of Servers, Software, PCs and communications was required, and Banson Electric were seeking a partner to install, commission and manage the entire project, whilst working with other partners already involved, in particular, the Software House providing the distribution software used by Banson.

    The Solution
    The solution created was to install ADSL at all sites and implement a comprehensive virtual private network, replacing all of the 40 existing PCs and install 2 new powerful Elonex servers.

    Prior to implementing the solution, Elonex pro-actively suggested an essential Consultancy Phase. A short Consultancy assignment was undertaken by Elonex Solutions to verify the design of the new infrastructure, and confirm accurate product requirement details and costings for Servers, Firewalls, Desktops and Notebooks.

    Banson Electric were very impressed with this approach and the recommendations put forward, therefore awarding Elonex an order in excess of £80,000 for both products and installation services. Banson were also comfortable that Elonex, being a manufacturer as well as a solutions provider, could produce the exact specifications required, which was important in the arena of servers and high specification workstations.
