Marish Junior School: rennovating the ICT room

    Eductaion Sector

quote The ICT room now reflects the creative, exciting, learning environment, we believe all schools should be able to offer. quote
    JENNY GREENYER
    HEADTEACHER, MARISH JUNIOR SCHOOL.

Marish Junior School Powerdesk Marish Junior School prides itself on offering an inspirational and creative learning environment, focusing on stimulating all of the senses to find and develop each student's best methods of learning. However, the one area of the school, which did not measure up to their exacting standards was the school's ICT room.

    The Challenge
"The ICT room used to be very clinical and dull looking,Ó said Karen Holder, VAK Trainer. "There were rows of grey desks, with metal computers on top and lots of distracting wires, which teachers constantly had to stop the children pulling on.Ó

Jenny Greenyer, Head Teacher, was determined that the school's proactive ethos would extend to the increasingly important role of learning to use computers effectively. With the need also to create a safer environment (which was user-friendly for students of all sizes and including those requiring wheelchair access), Marish School invited manufacturers of computer and furniture solutions to bid for redesigning the school's ICT room.

    The Solution
The winning solution was developed by Powerdesk®, inventors of the first intelligent furniture. The resulting Jigsaw design met Marish's need to create an exciting kinaesthetic learning environment by offering a vast range of colours, shapes and innovations, to take imaginative minds away from historical concepts of square-boxed grey computer designs.

    The Result
"There's nothing else like it in the market,Ó said George Beaver, Technical Support Manager at Marish, "And the Powerdesk solution also has the advantage of having a smaller footprint, so that we can fit 30 computer workstations into a space which previously could accommodate only 18 PCs.Ó

Marish School ICT room has received a big thumbs up for its jigsaw design from both students and teachers. "The ICT room now reflects the creative, exciting, learning environment, we believe all schools should be able to offer,Ó said Jenny Greenyer, Head Teacher.
