    Scottish Ambulance Services NHS Trust

    Health Sector

quote We have been big Elonex users over the past five years and now have a national policy to go for Elonex throughout. We are very happy with Elonex, who give good response and reliability. When we do get a problem, which is rare, the response is excellent. The staff at Elonex are very efficient and we have built a very good relationship with them. quote
    JOHN SAVLIN,
SYSTEMS MANAGER, SCOTTISH AMBULANCE SERVICES NHS TRUST

Scottish Ambulance Trust logo The Scottish Ambulance Trust has its' headquarts in Edinburgh. It is responsible for over 154 ambulance stations and has eight divisional headquarters.

    The Challenge
The Trust needed a massive PC hardware upgrade, converting all PCs to a standard platform. They were looking for vendors with solutions to streamline procurement, reduce the cost of ownership, lower service and support expenses and improve accountability.

The vendor had to have a reputation for high-class service and support, quality standard based components and outstanding price/performance. Complex networks, critical applications, cost-effective patient care and marketplace viability was riding on the decision. Over 350 PCs were to be ordered.

    The Solution
In the Control Room, Elonex machines have replaced mainly Compaq and Tulip PCs to provide access to the Trust's Command, Control and Patient Transport systems.

The Glasgow Divisional Headquarters is typical of the control area in each Division. Here, some 20 PCs enable the team of Control Room Assistants and their Duty Manager in the Accident and Emergency Department to respond to callouts, while staff control the ambulances on the PTS system. Additional PCs were installed in the Planning and Patient Registration departments, where high availability and reliability of the PCs are of the essence.

    The Result
The Trust was once again satisfied with the hardware upgrade.
