The school was particularly impressed with the single point of contact approach adopted by Elonex. Implementation of BT and
EDEX services were all centrally managed through Elonex which allowed the school to carry on as normal.

Who qualifies for the Becta scheme?
If you are involved with ICT in any of the following, then the Elonex Becta Accredited Services solution is of vital
interest to you:
Our approach to supplying the Education Sector
The company has always seen the use of PC's in educational establishments as a way of enhancing teaching and learning,
with IT as a tool, not just as an end in itself.
Our unique "virtual-team" approach to developing solutions to meet the needs of our customers means that we can be more flexible and offer better value for money. We work with educational establishments to provide tailored PC-based solutions, drawing on our experience in a wide variety of installations. We only use industry-standard components, that work in familiar ways to provide stable systems.
This approach extends to how we supply our products and services funder the Becta scheme. It allows us to help you specify the right system according to your circumstances, and at the budget you can afford.
Becta Accredited ICT Services
The Department for Education and Skills (DFES) has commissioned Becta, the British Educational
Communications and Technology agency to manage the accreditation of IT service suppliers to the Education Sector. The initiative
was developed after a widespread consultation in the summer of 2001 among ICT suppliers and customers in education.
The Becta ICT Services enables all schools and other educational institutions to purchase information and communication technology equipment and services. It provides an integrated package of hardware, software, networking facilities, Internet access and services, managed by the supplier and paid for in regular instalments. The aim is to help institutions manage their implementation of new ICT practices.
Becta has already done the work of testing equipment and services and has also drawn up the framework of contracts for the education
Sector. It offers a more straightforward and assured route to successful ICT procurement. This
means teaching professionals can concentrate on education rather than on technical issues.
The scheme is open to small primary schools
with networks from 4 workstations upwards through to larger institutions with networks of 500 workstations or more. Becta also manages and
develops and the Virtual Teacher Centre and the Further
Education Hub.
We've been put to the test.
To become an Accredited Supplier, Becta put us through a rigorous and comprehensive testing process. Successful suppliers had to demonstrate
an ability to provide a high level of service. It involved the evaluation of a local area network and associated services, and visits
to evaluate the quality of key processes within our organisations. Successful candidates had to show that they could
provide quality and performance, and agreed to carry out all business in the education sector within the terms of the Becta
Code of Conduct. Out of 112 suppliers, Elonex was one of twelve who was authorised to sell ICT solutions to the
Education Sector under the Becta Accredited ICT services scheme.
