Elonex Awarded Regional Growth Fund

2011-11-04

As an established brand Elonex has launched some of the world’s most exciting electronic products to a gadget hungry consumer base around the world. Established in 1986, Elonex’s extensive R&D programme has resulted in a varied portfolio of innovative consumer electronics. Elonex holds a bank of over 200 patents some of which are used by Apple, Sony and Samsung. In it’s 25 year history Elonex has launched many world firsts and pushed back the boundaries to make breakthrough consumer technology accessible to everyone.

The Regional Growth Fund award of £2,000,000 will be used towards the construction and operation of a state of the art electronics manufacturing plant in the Coventry area. The impact this will have on the UKs electronics sector will also secure the viability of numerous SME’s that will be invited to join the supply chain to serve Elonex’s new facility.

Stuart Smith the Chairman of Elonex states:

From our understanding and local knowledge of the skills currently under-employed in the Coventry area we believe that the Elonex Manufacturing Plant can address a significant element of employment transition from the public sector to the private sector. The jobs profile requirement in our business plan is broad – and many of the skills that administrative public sector workers have in terms of numeracy, literacy and IT will prove vital in supporting the “blue-chip” retailers that we will be supplying. Equally important are the manufacturing and assembly jobs that will be supported by the Governments apprenticeships schemes – particularly for the under 21 age group who we are keen to employ and develop as IT and electronics engineers of the future.
