This success has been achieved from a standing start as Elonex only re-entered
the Computing Sector in early 2008. The Elonex business model has shifted from
solely supplying innovative and convergent Consumer Electronics to now including
laptops and desktop computers.
Sam Goult, Marketing Manager at Elonex, attributes this success to the emerging
netbook sector, “The Q3 results are superb, particularly as Elonex is a UK
company performing well in the UK. Since Elonex kick-started the netbook sector,
by launching the milestone £99 Elonex ONE this year, Elonex has gone from
strength to strength. Elonex is now very well positioned amongst some of the
world’s biggest players in the IT industry.”
The ONE laptop has been a phenomenal success, driving significant change in both
the consumer and education sectors. 2008 has been a year of developing the
Elonex laptop and desktop business, under the Elonex brand as well as supplying
a number of ‘own brand’ products for major high-street retailers. This is
combined with a high profile strategic tie up with Carphone Warehouse that has
seen the success of Elonex’s ultra portable webbook, which is currently
sponsoring the X Factor.
Despite the recent downturn in the global economy and a bleak outlook for UK
businesses in the coming months, Elonex has bucked the trend and is experiencing
a rare and sustained growth. Fuelled by its forward-looking product portfolio
and adaptable business model Elonex is set to continue to strengthen its market
share and presence within the global computing market.
Commenting about Elonex’s future Nick Smith, CEO of Elonex, says, “Our continued
strategy to provide high quality yet affordable products should see Elonex
prosper through the current economic climate. With numerous new and pioneering
products planned for launch in 2009, as well as some exciting new partnerships,
the future looks very bright for Elonex indeed.”
