Marks & Spencer launch first own brand
laptop, powered by Elonex
Retail giant Marks & Spencer
has partnered with UK firm Elonex to create the high street brand’s
first own brand laptop, the 10” webbook. The laptop, a small-sized
powerhouse of computing performance has been stylishly designed by M&S
and manufactured by Elonex to their renowned quality and environmental
standards.
The MSNB-2009 shows the growing trend for small and
lightweight laptops, often referred to as netbooks or webbooks, which
are used by people with busy lifestyles who want access to the internet
and their files without the nuisance of having to carry a cumbersome
full size laptop. With the MSNB-2009, Marks & Spencer has injected their
typical design flair to create a piece of cutting edge technology with a
modern and sophisticated style. Available in Midnight Navy, Shocking
Pink and Jet Black, the 10” webbook says as much about its owner as it
does about anything else, and is certainly guaranteed to turn heads this
Christmas time.
Power & Performance
Boasting an Intel® Atom™ Processor with 1GB of RAM, the MSNB-2009
delivers the ultimate in mobile performance and with a 6 Hour battery
life you can keep connected at home, at the office, at the coffee shop
or wherever your imagination takes you.
The MSNB-2009 also has a
huge 160GB hard drive so you can store loads of music, films and photos.
With a Windows operating system it’s great for keeping you entertained,
and great for keeping you working. With a PC output (VGA) the MSNB-2009
lets you give a business presentation outputted to an external monitor,
TV or projector and keep in touch wirelessly with the office when you’re
out in the field.
With a 10 inch screen and weighing in at only
1.3 kilos the MSNB-2009 is designed to be ultra portable so you can take
it with you anywhere. A full QWERTY keyboard and 10” WXGA screen
resolution means that you can browse the internet without the compromise
and compression of some smaller display sizes.
Style &
Sophistication
Deliciously styled and precision crafted, the
MSNB-2009 takes a sophisticated approach to mobile computing. With sleek
lines, a unique seamless touchpad and a vibrant LED-backlit display,
expect a touch of class without compromise.
The MSNB-2009 comes in
three elegant colours to suit your taste. Midnight Navy is as dark as it
is luxurious, high-gloss Jet Black is a trendy as it is understated and
Shocking Pink is as chic as it is outrageous.
Handbag
Computing
The webbook is part of a new wave of handbag
computers designed for the modern woman; powerful enough to pack a punch
in the corporate world and portable enough to give you on-demand
wireless access to social networking sites. Perfect in pink, the webbook
says as much about your style as anything else. With a sophisticated,
glittery high-gloss finish you can be sure to turn heads when you slip
it out of your handbag when you’re out and about.
Keep up
wirelessly with the very latest gossip whether you’re Tweeting or on
Facebook, jump on eBay to bag a bargain or catch up with the latest on
iPlayer or YouTube. Its 1.3 megapixel webcam lets you stay in touch face
to face with friends & family and an integrated memory card reader means
you can upload digital photos or videos on the spot.
Describing the partnership with Marks & Spencer, Stuart Smith, Chairman
of Elonex explains
“M&S is one of the UK’s most recognisable
high street brands and was an unusual but very compelling partnership
for Elonex.
Consumers see laptops, and especially webbooks, as much
more of a lifestyle purchase and so teaming up with the nation’s best
fashion brand was an unconventional but astute move. Nowadays people
don’t just look to computer stores to buy computers. A brand like M&S
has built confidence in their customers over the years, who now know
they can expect exemplary customer service and a high quality,
environmentally friendly product that will enhance their lifestyle.”
M&S Technology Buyer, Steve Hughes continues "We're very
excited to introduce these M&S own brand notebooks which we have
designed in conjunction with Elonex. M&S has seen a growing trend for
smaller and more portable laptops, therefore we have created these
fashion-inspired notebooks in bright pink, sultry black and navy blue to
offer our customers a great value, high quality and stylish way of
working whilst on the move"
Sam Goult, Marketing Manager
of Elonex continues “Webbooks have dominated the electronics market
over the year, in line with people’s ever growing demand to have instant
access to Facebook & Twitter, eMail & eBay, Music & Movies wherever they
are. Elonex kick-started the sector with its sub £100 range of laptops
and the market has matured to a point where it now has the sleek
designer styling of M&S married with the high-tech gadgetry of Elonex.
Available exclusively at Marks & Spencer for only £279, the 10”
webbook is not only stylish and affordable but ideal as a portable
laptop for taking out and about. Great for business, perfect for handbag
computing and commuting, and an excellent first computer for children
and students.
Elonex expects a high demand for the 10” webbook this
Christmas and there’s no doubt lots of people have their fingers crossed
that there’ll be one under their tree!”
